The Doctor's Hunch

Jack's POV

We ran out of the graveyard and headed back to the main square. I look at the gate that leads to the pumpkin patch and say to the girls, "I'm going over to the pumpkin patch to investigate. You stay over by the fountain." I walked over towards the gate that led towards the pumpkin patch and opened it. Everything looked safe, but a few pumpkins started to shake and ghosts appeared.

I tried fighting them off, but more kept coming and appearing from nowhere. I quickly ran out of the pumpkin patch and slammed the gate shut, then I ran back towards the girls. Rose asked, "What happened, Jack?"

I said, "The pumpkin patch is crawling with Oogie's lackeys. They're possessing the pumpkin patch and won't let anybody enter. I tried to fend off the ghosts, but they kept popping up and attacking. We just need to get to the doctor right away!" Hannah said, "Okay, we better head over there now." Victoria adds, "I hope he knows what to do about those possessed pumpkins."

We headed towards the gate to Dr. Finkelstein's manor and made our way towards the courtyard, which the entryway towards Dr. Finkelstein's home was guarded by an electric fence. Kayla groans, "Great, how are we supposed to save the doctor without being burnt to a crisp?" Alison said, "Well, there should be a switch or some generator running somewhere. If we can shut it down somehow, we'll be able to get in and face Dr. Finkelstein."

Victoria said, "I'll see if I can find the switch, but I need you guys to fight off any monsters that may appear." We followed Victoria towards an area of the courtyard and spotted some strange dolls floating around; those two looked like the ones I had everyone make when we were having our first Christmas. The first toy looked like a vampire teddy bear and the second toy looked like a jack-in-box with a pumpkin head along with wreath-like arms.

We managed to fight the two off as Victoria ran to see a sort of metal hook to grapple onto. Victoria lashed out her Soul Robber and jumped up towards a rafter. Among the fight, I heard Victoria call, "I see the switch, but it's blocked! Jack, could you come up here?" I gave the teddy vampire another hit to finish it off and said, "Yes, Victoria! I'm on my way!"

I used my Soul Robber to go up on the rafter and met up with Victoria. She pointed to some wooden boards blocking some generator, then I said, "I'll use my pumpkin fire to burn the wood. Stay back." With a spin, I turned into my Pumpkin King form and walked towards the boards. Blowing out fire from my mouth carefully, I burned the boards down to ash and found the generator.

I waved a hand to Victoria and said, "Care to flip the switch?"

Victoria says, "Sure." She walks over towards the generator, pulls the switch, and all the power from the large electrical unit turns off completely. We jumped back down to meet with the others, then we walked across the bridge over some green water and came across Dr. Finkelstein's hunchback henchman named Igor. I asked urgently, "Igor, where is Dr. Finkelstein?"

Igor spoke up, "Sorry, Igor under strict orders. Let no one pass."

Alex said worriedly, "You don't understand! We're here to save the doctor from Oogie's clutches!"

"Sorry," said Igor. "But Master said if Igor let anyone pass, no biscuit!" We all heard a loud growling noise, then Igor clutched his head and groaned in pain, Ohh... Igor starving! Th-The Witch Shop... You bring Igor biscuit, huh?" We looked at the hunchback in pity, then I said, "Okay, Igor. If we bring you a biscuit, you'll let us pass?"

"Yes! Igor do for Jack and his new friends!" said Igor. "Hurry! Igor starving!"

Victoria said, "Okay, we better head over towards The Witch Shop, grab ourselves a box of biscuits, and head back with no problems." As we headed back towards the square, we came towards the shop and stopped when a voice called, "Hey, Jack! I don't think you'll find me as forgiving as Lock!" Rose groaned, "Great, the little pests are back again."

Shock jumped out from behind the wall, followed by Lock and Barrel.

"I let you win before!" said Lock.

"Quiet, you!" said Barrel, hitting his friend.

"Time for some help!" said Shock as Lock and Barrel ducked back behind the wall. She put her mask back on. This time, instead of skeletons, ghosts began popping up from the ground like the ones I've seen from the pumpkin patch. Shock pointed her broom at us and shouted to the ghosts, "GET 'EM!"

"Here we go again..." Victoria groaned.

I looked at Victoria and reassured as my Soul Robber glowed, "It'll be alright, Victoria. This won't take long with the seven of us." In an instant, we took to fighting off the ghosts as we struck, lassoed, slammed, and mashed them until they stopped showing up entirely. Shock took her mask off to see no ghosts and said, "Huh? Where'd they all go?" Alison, Alex, Hannah, and Victoria glared at her. Shock shrank back and shouted, "TIME TO SCRAM!" She took off climbing up the wall and jumped off to the other side, which made Rose holler, "Yeah, you better run off, ya little brat!"

I said, "Right, now let's head inside the shop before more trouble comes." As we headed inside the Witch Shop, we bought a couple of crystal vials and upgraded to levels for our Soul Robbers for faster, stronger, and deadlier attacks to use against our foes. I looked around frantically, which the Short Witch noticed my expression and asked, "What's the matter, Jack?"

I said to her, "I'd like to buy a biscuit."

The Tall Witch approached me and said, "A biscuit? I'm sorry, but Corpse Kid came in and bought the last box."

I asked in disbelief, "What?"

Kayla said, "Don't worry, Jack. I'm sure we can convince Corpse Kid to give us the box to save Dr. Finkelstein on time." I felt encouraged by Kayla's words and smiled, "I believe you're right, Kayla. Alright, let's go find him." As we headed out to the square and stopped by the fountain to fill up the vials with green water, I said, "This water can heal injuries faster than ever. Be sure to fill up just enough and not waste it all at once."

Victoria came towards Corpse Kid and said, "Hey, Corpse Kid."

Corpse Kid smiled, "Victoria, you and the others are okay! Did you save Sally?"

Victoria said, "We did save her from a giant spider in the old burial chamber underground. That spider was so big that it was almost the size of Aragog, might've been a distant cousin of his." Before Corpse Kid could ask what Victoria meant, Alex spoke up, "Listen, we're in a rush and need a box of biscuits. The Witch Shop had the last one in stock and you bought it."

Corpse Kid frowned, "What? You want my biscuit? No way! These are mine!"

Alison looked like she was about to swear in anger, but I quickly stepped up and said calmly, "My fine boy, we need that biscuit to save the doctor from Oogie Boogie's clutches."

Corpse Kid sighed in defeat, but quickly his mood changed to understanding and excited, "Oh... But that biscuit's mine! Well... I guess you and the girls need it more than me... I know! I'll give you my biscuit if you can pass my quiz! It's about Halloween Town, so it should be easy for you, Pumpkin King!"

Alison said, "A quiz? Mon dieu, I didn't have the time to study."

Hannah asked, "On Halloween Town, huh? Okay, let's give it a whirl."

"Question one," said Corpse Kid. "What day is Halloween?"

"October 31," said Hannah.

"That's right!" said Corpse with a happy jump. "Question two: How many Hanging Men does the Hanging Tree have?"

Kayla said, "That's an easy one. Five."

Corpse Kid jumped for joy and said, "That's right! Question three: What color is the water in the Halloween Town Fountain?"

Alex said, "I'm gonna go with green."

Once again, Corpse Kid jumped for joy and said before giving the next question, "That's right! Question four: What is the main ingredient used for Halloween?"

"Thrills and chills," I answered.

"That's right! Question five: What is the name of the town Jack lives in?"

"Halloween Town," the girls and I said altogether.

"That's right! Question six: How many fingers does Jack have on one hand?"

Rose said, "Ooh, that's a tricky one. Let me think... How about four?"

"That's right! Question seven: What is Jack's last name?"

Alison spoke up eagerly, "It's Skellington!"

"That's right! Question eight: St. Patrick's Day, Independence Day, and New Year's Day. Which one doesn't have its own Holiday Door?"

Kayla said, "Hmm, I think it might be New Year's Day. Yeah, that might be it."

"That's right! Question nine: What color is Sally's hair?"

I smiled, "Red."

"That's right! Question ten: How many bolts are on Dr. Finkelstein's head?"

Everyone's eyes widened in shock and confusion, even I couldn't know this question. I thought for a bit, but all of a sudden Victoria blurted out, "Eight!" We looked at Victoria, who shrugged and blushed, "Lucky guess?"

"That's right!" said Corpse Kid.

We all began to compliment on Victoria's quick thinking and I said, "Victoria, I can't believe you know that! Y-You really are amazing! I bet you'd be a great witch if you lived here." Hannah said, "You must be psychic or even have a bit of witch's blood in you, maybe even a gypsy fortune teller from your ancestry." Victoria shrugged, "I dunno about witches in my family tree, but I think I may have gypsy in me and I've been reading up on fortune telling books lately."

I noticed Victoria winked to Alex, Kayla, and Rose as they nodded in return. I felt curious about why she winked at them, but snapped out of my thoughts when Corpse Kid said, "Let's see what you know... Unreal! A perfect score! Way to go, Jack and girls! A deal's a deal. Here's my biscuit!" Kayla took the box and said, "Thank you! Great quiz!"

"Come on!" said Jack. "We need to take these to Igor!"

Victoria said, "Right, we better get those before he passes out." With that, we took off towards the entrance of the manor and made our way towards Igor. Kayla handed the box of biscuits to Igor and said, "Here you go, Igor. Hope these are the kinds you like."
Here's Chapter 6 of the story!

How's that one? With Finkelstein in danger and a starving hunchback, the girls and Jack managed to solve some riddles by a familiar Halloween Town citizen. I only own my OC Victoria; the girls belong to each of their respective owners as well as the references used. Anything related to Nightmare Before Christmas belongs to Tim Burton and Disney respectively. Kind reviews and comments are accepted.

Oh yeah, Jack uses for the first time his Pumpkin King form, KILL IT WITH FIRE !!!
... Wait, that's not my sentence o^o

Jesus Christ, knowing my patience, I would have blown in anger (Or kicked more Shock in frustration xD ) by going from Igor to the Witches to the Corpse Kid TO ANSWER TEN QUESTIONS XDDDDD

Nice touch you guessed the last question, it would have been cool if you, indeed, had gypsy blood in you x3
