Pranking the Priests and Big Trouble

Moses said, "We just do some harmless pranks on Hotep and Huy for laughs. The two are sometimes annoying and just bore everyone to tears by being advisors. There was this one time where Rameses and I switched their scrolls around for their rituals to some jokes."

Rameses adds, "Oh, and this happened a couple of years ago that we got caught for this one prank."

Victoria asks as they're walking, "What happened?"

Rameses ran a hand over his nearly shaven head and said, "When I was about ten and Moses was eight, we swapped the heads of the gods at the temple of Ra. Moses showed me that the statue heads could be removed when they were being cleaned and had me switch some of the heads around. Moses put the head of the hippo onto the crocodile statue, then the crocodile's head onto a statue of a falcon."

Victoria chuckled, "That's pretty funny. Guess a little inspiration for some art, huh?"

Moses said, "You might say that. When we were switching the heads, we were proud of our work. But we heard the priests about to do their prayers and tried to switch the heads back to their rightful places. We got caught by Hotep and Huy when Rameses accidentally dropped the head of the cat, breaking it in pieces."

Rameses stammered and stared in disbelief at Moses, "What? Y-You made me drop it! I was being careful, but you tapped my shoulder from behind and I panicked! I hate it when I'm snuck up from behind." Looking at Victoria and continuing the story, Rameses said, "When we were caught, Father was furious for our sacrilege on the temple and the priests thought the switched heads of the gods was a horrible omen. Most of the priests fasted for two months."

Victoria said, "Really? They just fasted for two months over a little prank you guys caused? I sort of feel bad for the other priests, but Hotep looks like he needs to lose more weight and the fasting doesn't really help out years ago." Rameses and Moses began laughing, then Rameses asked after regaining composure, "Do you do pranks?"

Victoria said, "Sort of. The only good pranks I can do are throwing small sacks filled with either water or paint for fun, along with putting on some whipped cream onto someone's hair or face when they're asleep for laughs."

Moses said, "We should definitely try soaking some of the priests with paint, along with the other pranks you mentioned." Victoria said a bit weary, "That is if we can find them and avoid being caught." Thinking of something, Moses said, "I guess we might be able to pull this off. Follow me." With that, Rameses and Victoria followed Moses down the halls as they came across a vacant room.

Seeing a bunch of brushes and small jugs of paint, Moses grabs a couple sacks and fills up some red, blue, green, and yellow paints into them. Rameses said, "I don't think we should be doing this." Moses said when mixing red and yellow paints to make orange into a sack, "Rameses, if you're so worried, just keep an eye out for anyone coming in." Victoria looks at some white paint and red paint, then she pours the two into a sack.

Moses sees Victoria stirring up the mixed paint and says, "That's new, going for pink?"

Victoria said after tying the sack nozzle into a knot, "Yep. Just for a little feminine touch. Rameses, anyone coming?" The eldest prince said, "No, nobody's coming. We should be able to go now. I think we have enough, don't you think?" Victoria sees a large sack and says with a mischievous glint in her eyes, "Almost. Just one more should do."

Rameses sees Victoria holding the large sack open, then shrugs and decides to help her. Victoria says, "Could you pour in some of the red and blue in, please?" Rameses takes the red paint, pours it in, and does the same for the blue. He asks, "Why do you need those two colors?" Victoria said as she began to stir, "I used white and red to mix them up in one sack to make the color pink. I'm going to give a little more color by mixing red and blue to make purple. Just to give the priests a little thing I like to call a royal flush."

Rameses asked, "A royal flush? In Greece, the color purple is for royalty and the upper class?"

Victoria nods, "Mmm-hmm, especially in Cyprus and in Crete."

As the two are tying a knot for the large sack, Rameses asks again, "What was the question you wanted me to ask you when you were first brought here? It's been nagging at me for some time." Victoria looks at him and says, "To be honest, I haven't thought of that. I was thinking of you guessing either what my eye color was or one of the names of our gods."

Rameses shook his head and said with a small chuckle, "You are a very strange girl, Victoria. Strange, funny, and beautiful." Victoria smiled as a tiny blush appeared on her cherubic cheeks. The three gathered up their sacks of paint and headed down the halls without being seen, then Victoria whispered, "Where to?" Moses points over towards a room and says, "In there."

The two follow Moses inside a large room that has two statues of Pharaoh Seti sitting on thrones facing each other and a balcony. Rameses says, "This is where Moses and I usually pull pranks on the priests without being seen. I also come here for time alone to calm down or think things through." Victoria thought for a bit and said, "Rameses, before we began touring around, you seemed a little tense about the news of the huge banquet coming up. Is something wrong?"

The elder prince looked into Victoria's blue eyes, a slight blush on his tanned cheeks. "Oh, it's nothing. I am alright," he said quietly.

"He's nervous," Moses piped up.

Rameses' blush deepened and he shot his brother an impatient look as if to say he can speak for himself. Turning back to look at the young lady, the prince explained, "You see, I am of age now and so my father will soon name me as prince regent. Though he has not said so yet, this banquet is likely the occasion he will choose to announce it. Why else would he throw such a grand party seemingly out of nowhere? My father is not someone who does things on the spur of the moment. If he is throwing a big banquet, there must be a reason."

Victoria nodded in understanding, "Uh-huh."

"Being the prince regent is a huge responsibility," Moses added. He noticed his brother's gaze fall to the ground anxiously. "But I know Rameses will live up to task brilliantly. He is going to become a splendid pharaoh!" Rameses looked up and flashed a small smile at his brother. It was good to know that Moses had faith in him.

Victoria said, "I'm sure that he will be." Rameses looked at Victoria and said, "Thank you." Before the two could say something else, Moses said, "Sorry to interrupt, but the priests are probably walking down below." The three headed over towards the balcony to see a couple of the priests, along with Hotep and Huy walking.

Hotep said, "Can't believe that those princes let some prisoner go horseback riding. I'm surprised she didn't try to escape." Huy said, "Even after she fell off the horse and sprained her ankle, the princes seemed to get attached to her. She must definitely be a little slut. Beautiful, but maybe not as virtuous and chaste she claims to be." Hotep snickers, "Probably must be a harlot like her mother before her."

Victoria overheard everything and said through clenched teeth, "Nobody calls me or my mother that, then gets away with it!" Before she could throw a sack down at Hotep's head, Rameses and Moses held her arms to stop her. Moses said, "Easy, Victoria, those two are not worth it." Victoria ducked down with the princes and said, "But those two jerks called me and my mother harlots! We're not!"

Rameses said, "We know, but we'll get back at them later."

Moses said, "We'll throw down the smaller sacks of paint down on the other priests, then use the giant one for Hotep and Huy." Victoria asked, "You're really going to do that? For me?" Rameses placed his hand on Victoria's fair hand and said, "Of course. When we've gotten to know you better after you hurt your ankle and visited you to see how you're doing, we've started to like you as an equal."

Moses adds, "You're starting to become a friend to us."

Victoria smiled, "Thanks, guys. Um, who wants to start?"

Moses said, "How about you? Ladies first." Taking one of the smaller sacks, Victoria looks over the balcony and throws it down towards one of the priests. The sack exploded as pink paint drenched the man, who angrily shouted, "My new robes! Who did this?!" Victoria ducked down fast before being seen and Moses said to her, "Nice shot."

Rameses peeked over and whispered, "Get another one ready." With that, Moses grabs another sack and throws it down on another priest to see red paint drenching him from head to toe. Rameses grabs another sack and does the same, but drenches a priest with green paint. The three grabbed more of the sacks, then Victoria said, "Time for a little more fun."

Looking over the balcony, Victoria called out, "FIRE AWAY!" With that, she and the princes pelted the priests with the sacks of paint to see them drenched. Hotep and Huy shielded their heads as they ducked around to see the other priests wet, then Victoria tossed the last small sack of paint towards Huy's head and yellow paint splattered all over him. Huy shrieked, "You'll pay for this, Victoria!"

Hotep said, "You're in big, big, BIG TROUBLE!"

Victoria backs away slowly, but sees Moses and Rameses holding up the large sack of paint. Rameses said, "We'll end this together. Remember what you said about the royal flush?" Victoria gives a sigh of relief and goes towards the two princes, then she calls to Hotep and Huy, "This is for you two bad-talking about me and my mother, you rats!"

Moses said, "On three."

Rameses, Moses, and Victoria counted as they lifted the sack of paint slowly, "One, two, three!" All at once, they tossed the large sack of paint and the sack exploded to shower the priests with purple paint on their robes with the other colors to blend. The priests groaned as they began to run off, but kept falling and slipping on the floor covered in paint.

The two princes and Victoria laughed at the priests' misfortune, then Victoria said after regaining composure, "That felt pretty good and was a lot of fun."

Moses breathed for air and said, "Yeah, it sure was."

Rameses smirked, "Looks like those two should think twice before opening their big mouths about you, Victoria."

Just when the three were proud of their work, two familiar priests came near the doorway with their arms folded. Victoria, Rameses, and Moses looked to see Hotep and Huy glaring at them. Hotep seethed, "Pharaoh wishes that you three go to him immediately." Huy adds, "He wants to have a word with all three of you right now." Victoria looks at the guilty expressions of the princes and lowers her head in shame, then follows Moses and Rameses out of the room.

When the five made their way towards the throne room, Hotep and Huy approached the royals. Queen Tuya placed a hand over her mouth to hide her amusement at the priests' painted robes while Pharaoh Seti looked up with widened eyes to see Hotep and Huy. Rameses, Moses, and Victoria stand near the bottom of the steps that lead towards the throne with their heads up.

Pharaoh Seti rose from the throne where he had been sitting and stood glowering down at the three delinquents. "What is the meaning of this?" he asked in his usual serious and commanding tone. The three bowed their heads and said nothing. Pharaoh Seti sighed and focused his gaze on his oldest son, "Rameses, what happened to the priests?"

The elder prince slowly raised his head to look at his father. "We dropped bags filled with paint onto them from the balcony, sir," he said in a quiet voice.

"Why would you do such a thing?" Pharaoh Seti asked in a frustrated voice. "Is this some new game? You thought it would be fun to torment my priests? Are you children that you still are amused by such behavior? Well, I, for one, am not! This sort of conduct has got to stop." His cold eyes moved from one to the other of the pranksters. "I expect more from you, especially you, Rameses. Is this conduct becoming of a future pharaoh?"

Rameses bowed his head in shame and said nothing.

"Well, is it?" Pharaoh Seti snapped.

"No, Father. Forgive me."

Moses chimed in, "It was my fault as well, Father. I talked Rameses and Victoria into it. It was all my idea."

Pharaoh Seti's eyes softened ever so slightly as he looked at Moses, "That may be, my son, but both of them must be strong enough to resist being led astray by you."

Moses' face flushed with embarrassment as he looked at the ground. He was unsure just how he felt about having the power to lead his friends astray. It made him sound as though he was some sort of manipulator. He'd never intended to get them into trouble. Rameses slowly lifted his head and looked at his father. He was humiliated and just wanted to get the whole conversation over with. Rameses asked, "So what will our punishment be, sir?"

Victoria sadly looked at the two princes, then she slowly walked towards Pharaoh Seti and said, "Your Majesty, please don't be so hard on the princes. It was really my fault as much as theirs. I was still sad about the loss of my parents and the princes wanted to cheer me up. I'm really sorry for all of this."

Shooting a glare at Hotep and Huy, she said, "But I am not sorry for dropping paint on these two. I'm very angry that they've said very untrue things about my mother and accusing her of being a harlot, also saying that I'm one like her. Both my mother and myself are virtuous, as well as chaste." Taking a deep breath and calming down, she said, "However, I'll take the same punishment as Rameses and Moses. I could even clean the robes and scrub them until my hands turn raw."

Rameses and Moses couldn't believe their ears when Victoria told their father about taking the blame, along with offering to take up a certain punishment. The two looked at each other, then they turned their attention towards Victoria after she finished talking to their father. Listening to everything that the girl told him, Pharaoh Seti looked at his wife who seemed to understand everything that the girl explained. Queen Tuya said, "My love, she's only a child. She is very willing to take the blame as our sons, but please don't be too hard on her."

Pharaoh Seti turned his attention towards the young girl bowing her head down, then he spoke up, "Victoria, I think it is only fitting that you shouldn't be severely punished for your actions. But what you said before about offering to clean the robes, I'll accept." Hotep and Huy said in disbelief, "Pharaoh, you can't be-" Pharaoh Seti cuts the priests off and says, "Silence. I'm not finished. Rameses, Moses, the two of you will scrub the floor from your prank until the tiles are completely spotless. I have spoken and there is no more to be said."

The princes bowed their heads and replied, "Yes, Great Pharaoh."

"Good. Now get to work," their father said in his most business-like manner. He then folded his hands in his lap as he announced, "You three may be dismissed." As they walked out of Pharaoh's audience chamber, Moses wiped a hand across his brow and said, "Phew! We got lucky this time. I was afraid the punishment would be something much worse."

Rameses said angrily without raising his voice, "It was bad enough! We were embarrassed in front of Father, Mother, and those foolish priests! How do you always manage to get me into trouble, Moses? You talk me into doing things that I would never dream of doing if I was on my own."

Moses' cheeks colored slightly and he said, "Brother, you have to stop worrying so much about your pride. If I let you live life the way you seem to want to, you would never have any fun. I'm just looking out for your happiness." Rameses said nothing, but continued scowling at Moses who wasn't exactly certain of what else to say. Perhaps saying nothing would work just as well. He had seen his brother get into these impassioned moods and he just had to be left to cool off on his own.
Here's Chapter 12!

How's that one? We see that Victoria is bonding with the princes as they pull a prank on the priests, but she gets in trouble with them. She's really brave to stick up for Rameses and Moses, then take the share of the blame. I only own Victoria and my OCs; the characters and the movie itself belong to DreamWorks respectfully. Kind reviews and comments are accepted.
